SASCAR was created in 2009 to promote all aspects of cardiovascular research, interaction between basic, clinical and epidemiological research, and development of young researchers.
The South African Society for Cardiovascular Research (SASCAR) was created in 2009 as an interest group of the South African Heart Association. The objectives of the Society are to promote:
- All aspects of cardiovascular research in South Africa
- Active interaction between basic, clinical and epidemiological research in South Africa
- Collaboration among those involved in cardiovascular research in South Africa and elsewhere
- The development of young cardiovascular researchers in South Africa
We promote training and research in the cardiovascular field through various symposia, travel grants, an interactive website, workshops with other European Societies in the cardiovascular field, etc. Please note: in order to become a member of SASCAR you need to be a member of the SA Heart Association.
